the kings indian

i was never a fan of the d4 opening. the reason i started to appreciate it is that it had a element of surprise among most of my opponents, and i thought that if i was surprised if my opponent played d4 than why shouldn't i try it.some of the main points to note in the d4 opening are

  • element of surprise(a bit).
  • needs positional play rather than tactical
  • has long unclear positions
  • must have patience
the most popular in the intermediate level chess players is the King's Indian defence and somewhat goes likes this

  1. d4    Nf6
  2. c4    g6
  3. Nc3 Bg7
  4. e4    d6
  5. Nf3 0-0
the kings indian defence looks like this:
the kings indian defence is the most popular opening for black against the d4 opening.
we will see the some of the variations and a bit deep analysis of  the opening later in the next post.till then happy chessing.
